Afternoon Pictures is an independent production company, founded by Portia A. Buckley and Michael Lindley. The company was formed in 2015, with the aim of bringing exciting, original stories of life in contemporary Britain and Ireland to the big screen.

Portia A. Buckley

PORTIA A. BUCKLEY

Portia is an Irish/British writer, director and graduate of Tisch School of the Arts, NYU (MFA in Writing & Directing, 2019). She grew up in London where she studied at The Courtauld Institute of Art, receiving a distinction for her Masters Degree, specialising in Photography and Film in Global Contemporary Art in 2015.

Working primarily on film, Portia won the '“Kodak Best Shot on Film Award” at Hollyshorts in both 2019 and 2024.

Her latest short ‘Clodagh’ played in competition at Tribeca Film Festival (New York) AFI FEST (LA) and is currently shortlisted for the 2025 Academy Awards.

Michael Lindley

MICHAEL LINDLEY

Michael is a British screenwriter. His first film ‘The Hooligan Factory’ was released by Universal Pictures in 2014 and he has written scripts for Sky, Unstoppable, and Maven Screen Media.

Michael was co-writer and producer on Afternoon Pictures short films ‘Radiator’, ‘Birthday Girl’ and ‘Clodagh’.

‘Clodagh’ was the winner of ‘Best Drama’ and ‘Kodak, Best Shot on Film’ Awards at Hollyshorts, London (2024) as well as the ‘Grand Prix Irish Film’ at Cork International Film Festival (2024) and the ‘Best Live Action Short’ at Belfast Film Festival (2024).
